This career field encompasses a range of duties and responsibilities associated with keeping airports in safe and secure operations. Positions are found in both public airports and in the military. Airport operation workers oversee duties that include such areas as runway lighting and control, aircraft and other vehicle movements, safety and security, and the coordination of various emergency services and responses required at airfields. Some more specialized operations include wildlife control and dispersal, aircraft refuelling, ice and snow removal and dealing with chemical or hazardous spills or accidents.
